Establishment

The Department of Sociology came into existence with the establishment of the Mahavidyalaya in the year 1999. This Department is the integral part of Sanjeevanee Mahavidyalaya, Chapoli. It comprises in one Arts faculty. Sociology is one of the important optional subjects taught a B.A. Streams degree course in B.A. First, Second and Third years. In the beginning there were two lecturers appointed on C.H.B. basis Mrs Hippale S. Y. and Mr. Shetkar S. R. to arranged lectures of this subject. Presently Dr. Shetkar S. R. has been working as Head of the Department from 16/06/2000 to till today. The Department aims at empowering the students from rural area to lead the society and to understand the social scenario and strengthen the atmosphere of the society.

The Department of Sociology has been always determined increase the level of quality education under taking various curricular and Co-curricular activities for the students. In a short span of time, this department has earned a lot of reputation and popularity for providing higher and quality education and fulfilling growing needs of the society. Now this  department is one of the favorite students.

Objectives of the Department: –

1. To create interest of student in subject of Sociology.
2. To provide higher education in Sociology to minority and Rural areas students.
3. To introduces basic concept of sociology to students.
4. To enable to them to understand social reality objectively.
5. To make awareness among students given them knowledge of social problems.
6. To create skills in the students for employment
7. To urge students to perceive themselves as professionals in teaching publishing or research.
8. To offer stage for students to build their career in Sociology and creative writing.
9. To enable the students to know the basic Social problems.
10. To motivate students in participating in social activities.

About Research:

All the faculty members of the Department Sociology are research oriented. They are constantly publishing research papers in the national journals. The faculty actively participates in the National and International Level Seminars and Conferences
